ABC has announced that Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season six will not return until the Summer of 2019. This comes after the series was renewed for a shortened season six comprised of 13 episodes.
Right now there are no set reasons as to why the series would be pushed that far, but a few of our theories is that Avengers: 4 will be coming out at the same time, and that implications from season five may overflow into season six. The last time Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. was directly affected by the Marvel Cinematic Universe was during Captain America: Winter Soldier, as S.H.I.E.L.D. fell.
Since then, there have only been slight remarks about the Sokovia Accords (Avengers: Age of Ultron), and in the most recent season five episode someone sighted an incident that happened during Avengers: Infinity War.
While we don’t have solid reasoning yet, we’ll keep you posted as the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. news develops.
