Bungie Announces Destiny 2: Forsaken

Bungie has made an official announcement on the newest expansion for Destiny 2. The new expansion, titled Forsaken will add new features including a new campaign, new abilities to use, and new areas to explore.

Destiny 2 V2.0

Bungie gave a synopsis of the the new expansion’s story, written in collaboration with High Moon Studios, which made Transformers: Fall of Cybertron:

Following years of strife, what remains of the Reef has fallen to lawlessness. You and Cayde-6 are sent to personally investigate the recent unrest. Upon arrival, you soon discover the most-wanted criminals in the Prison of Elders have organized an escape. Beyond the Vanguard’s authority, you’ll pursue these fugitives deep into the Reef. Explore new regions, awaken new powers, earn powerful weapons, and uncover long lost Awoken secrets. The hunt is on.

The new expansion will take players to the Tangled Shore, a collection of asteroids anchored together in the reef. Cayde has been filling the Prison of Elders with enemies, but something inevitably goes wrong and they all break out.

Players will have access to new super moves for each class, as well as the ability to wield bows. There will also be a new PvPvE mode called ‘Gambit’. Two teams of players must kill enemies and bank a currency to make more enemies spawn, and the winners are the ones who kill the final boss first. However, the two teams can interfere with each other by going into the other team’s play area and killing them.

There is also a bunch of new content for the 2.0 version of the base game, which will launch around the same time as Forsaken. Players will be able to use a more varied equipment loadout and randomly rolled weapons will return from the original Destiny. A new gear collection feature will allow players to see what they’ve collected and what they need to unlock. More upcoming features can be seen on their latest roadmap here.
