Magic: The Gathering is Making a Return to Comic Books

It has been a long time since fans and players have seen a comic book about the vast worlds and characters from Magic: The Gathering. Get ready to see them again!

Wizards of the Coast has announced that they will be bringing back comic books based on Magic: The Gathering. This new series of comics will focus on Chandra Naalar, a planeswalker with the power of pyromancy at her finger tips. The series will be appropriately titled Magic: The Gathering: Chandra.

Magic: The Gathering’s Chandra Nalaar

Chandra grew up on a plane highly oppressed by the Consulate. Her parents were known rebels that opposed the Consulate’s rule. Unfortunately, they were captured and faced execution. Not only her parents, but also her. In an emotional moment her planeswalking spark ignited. Her planeswalk led her to a plane full of monks, who helped her learn to control her powers.

Chandra is fierce and headstrong, and has no problem showing it. Subtly is not her strong suite but it works for her in her journey to protect planes across the multiverse. Other characters will also make their way into the comic such as Ajani and others that are being left to the imagination.

There is no need to know anything about the very popular game to follow the comic books. The only requirement is a love of diverse and wonderful characters is all that’s required to become immersed in the story of Chandra. The new series will be written by Vita Ayala and art done by Harvey Tolibao. These two will be able to bring the characters to life. They have the ability to focus solely on the heartbreak, love, happiness and more that these characters experience. This is an opportunity to bring new life that a card game cannot bring to the table. It will be interesting and wonderful to become immersed in the multiverse and experience it through a planeswalkers eyes.

Magic: The Gathering: Chandra #1 comes to the shelves in November!
