Rapture Rejects, the battle royale game set in the world of the webcomic Cyanide and Happiness, is releasing onto Early Access in just a few days. The isometric blasphemy simulator is expected to be in Early Access until early 2020.
Sin to win
In Rapture Rejects, the Rapture has occurred and you’re one of the ones left behind. Fortunately, there’s one spot left up in Heaven. Unfortunately, the only way to get it is to slay your fellow sinners. The last one standing gets God’s favor and a ticket to Heaven. Given that they slaughtered a bunch of their fellow people, they might not do that good in Heaven. That’s not in the scope of the game though, and it’s a comedy, so don’t worry about it.
Battle royale games need some way to stand out in a market with games like Fortnite and PUBG. Otherwise you wind up like Radical Heights. The combination of being an isometric game and the link to Cyanide and Happiness are definitely notable (although your mileage may vary on the last one). The games had some rounds of closed alpha testing since its announcement in June, and some changes have already been made. Most notably, the number of players in each match has been reduced from 100 to 50.
Galvanic and Explosm Games are planning to release the full version in early 2020. Right now, the game has hand-crafted environment, but there are plans for the maps to make use of procedural generation. There’s also plans for greater character customization, as well as more of everything, including weapons, perks, and items. Naturally, there’ll also be plenty of game balancing, as well.
