Dark Phoenix: New Trailer Reveals [Spoiler]’s Possible Demise

In the latest trailer for what is most likely Fox’s last X-Men film, the world of the mutants is turned upside down and yet another wrinkle is thrown into the already mutilated X-men time-line. We present to you Dark Phoenix.

The Trailer

Arguably the biggest moment comes from the trailer’s opening seconds when Jean Grey seemingly kills Mystique. While this poses massive ramifications for both the film and the time-line, seeing as Mystique is alive and well in the X-Men movies set after Dark Phoenix, it is important to remember that trailers are often edited to mislead fans in order to conceal secrets regarding the plot. So while it seems that Mystique is now six feet under, it is entirely plausible that she is not the casualty that has been teased, despite Director Simon Kinberg saying otherwise.

Synopsis

In DARK PHOENIX, the X-MEN face their most formidable and powerful foe: one of their own, Jean Grey.

During a rescue mission in space, Jean is nearly killed when she is hit by a mysterious cosmic force. Once she returns home, this force not only makes her infinitely more powerful, but far more unstable. Wrestling with this entity inside her, Jean unleashes her powers in ways she can neither comprehend nor contain.

With Jean spiraling out of control, and hurting the ones she loves most, she begins to unravel the very fabric that holds the X-Men together. Now, with this family falling apart, they must find a way to unite — not only to save Jean’s soul, but to save our very planet from aliens who wish to weaponize this force and rule the galaxy.

Fans will just have to wait for Dark Phoenix to hit theaters in order to get answers.

Dark Phoenix releases June 6 starring Sophie Turner, James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Nicholas Hoult, Tye Sheridan, and Jennifer Lawrence.
