We all know that the Nintendo Switch will be getting a new Super Smash Bros. video game later this year, but the hype is real now that Xbox is willing to let the famous Banjo & Kazooie from the original Nintendo games into the mix.
A fan on Twitter reached out to Phil Spencer, the Xbox head, to discover if they’re willing to let Banjo and Kazooie into the next Super Smash Bros. game. While it isn’t a definite answer and there’s still time in developing the game, Spencer replied with a simple ‘Yep’.

For a history lesson, Microsoft acquired Rare, the dev team behind the original Banjo and Kazooie that launched on the Nintendo 64. While this was during 2002, Microsoft has been open to collaborations between their company and Nintendo, which dates back to 2015 where Phil Spencer also gave his approval on the characters being in Super Smash Bros. for the Nintendo Wii U and 3DS. While this didn’t happen, we can be hopeful it will happen now.
We’ll keep you posted on any details for Banjo & Kazooie along with the upcoming Super Smash Bros. game.
