After being a part of the franchise since the 1970’s, Mark Hamill has talked about leaving the Star Wars series for good, especially after Star Wars VIII: The Last Jedi. With his appearance in the recent The Last Jedi, Hamill that the conclusion of Luke Skywalker’s story was enough to end his involvement. Along with this, with the death of Carrie Fisher and the departure of Harrison Ford in the series, Hamill says that he just doesn’t have passion for the series he used to have.
“And then what happened with Luke [in The Last Jedi], I said ‘Okay, that’s the next link’ when I was still thinking I’ll come back as a Force ghost,” Hamill noted. “And then to lose Carrie in real life, I said ‘That’s it’. They say you can never go home again, and that for me was the real indication that it’s time to move on.”
It is unknown if Hamill will be involved in any way with the upcoming Episode 9, which is schedule for December 2019.
