Toronto Tragedy Delays Death Road to Canada Console Port

Recent van attack prompts Death Road to Canada delay

Today was the planned release date for the Xbox One, PS4, and Nintendo Switch versions of Death Road to Canada, the wacky zombie apocalypse road trip game. However, the recent tragedy in Toronto, Canada, has promoted an indefinite delay out of consideration for the victims.

For those who weren’t aware, on April 23rd, a 25-year old man by the name of Alex Minassian drove a rented van on the sidewalk and into pedestrians. The total death toll was ten people and fifteen injured. The charges are ten counts of first-degree murder and thirteen counts of attempted murder.

Details are still sketchy about his exact motives. However, a recent examination of his social media reveals that he had recently used Facebook to praise Elliot Rodger, a man who shot and killed six people in Isla Vista, California. Alex’s post states “The Incel Rebellion has already begun! We will overthrow all the Chads and Stacys! All hail Supreme Gentleman Elliot Rodger!” Incel, shorthand for “involuntary celibates,” is a self-describing term commonly used by misogynists who blame women for denying them their right to sexual intercourse. These posts suggest that the attack was motivated by some form of male supremacy or misogyny. However, it’s still fairly early, and more information may turn up.

Focusing back on the good people…

About 24 hours ago, Ukiyo Publishing, the company that would publish the console versions of Death Road to Canada, published a series of tweets announcing the delay:

Death Road to Canada is still available on PC and Mac, however. It is also still receiving regular content updates.
