Middle-Earth: Shadow of War Removes Microtransactions

Monolith has finally put out the free update for Middle-Earth: Shadow of War that removes all use if microtransactions within the game. Players will no longer be able to buy Gold with real money.

Although War Chests that give high-legendary Orcs will still be in the game among drops, the ability to buy them with real money has also been removed. If you are one of the gamers who did buy Gold with real money, and are currently earning it through in-game activities, the store will remain open until July 17th. If you are unable to exchange your Gold for items at the store, the game will automatically update on July 17th and exchange your Gold for in-game items, but not of your choosing.

In addition to this patch, the game has added Nemesis System Enhancements, which allow Overlords to get bodyguards that can deploy spies like Warchief bodyguards. Alongside this is the Brutal difficulty level, new photo mode, new Baranor skin, and the ability to find and search for certain players to fight in the online mode.

The Middle-Earth: Shadow of War Desolation of Mordor DLC also became available today for $20 outside the seasons pass. You can learn all about that DLC here.
