The release of the new Deadpool movie is sure to delight fans of the first. There’s been some disappointed fans of the X-Men franchises hoping to see a kind of crossover between Deadpool and the X-Men movies.

The reasoning behind this fan theory, is that Deadpool made an appearance in the X-Men universe back in the early 2000’s. Fans may be even more disappointed knowing a favorite X-Men called Yukio, will not be making an appearance as some fans had hoped.

According to the director of the second Deadpool movie (David Leitch) a favorite character from the X-Men franchise would not make an appearance in the latest Deadpool film.

Yukio is a popular X-Men character whose appearance was anticipated by fans of both the Deadpool and X-Men franchises.

For fans of the Wolverine movie released in 2013, the character of Yukio uis when she made her way into the hearts of X-Men movie franchise fans.

The creative team responsible for the latest Deadpool movie, told disappointed fans that the character of Yukio, was never part of the plan.  Although Yukio is a popular character, she was never part of the mutants’ series and as a result would have abilities that were much different from those of Deadpool. This statement came from Deadpool 2 writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick.

“That’s not right. She’s a super-minor character. The character’s name is actually Yukio, an assassin — but who’s an adult assassin, so we just aged her down. She’s such a minor character, we thought we could pretty much get away with anything.” – Rhett Reese

Fans who loved the first Deadpool movie however, will be happy to see that Ryan Reynolds will be reclaiming his role as the lead character and face of the franchise.

We’ll keep you posted on any new Deadpool and X-Men news
