Microsoft just went through their E3 conference, and announced they have bought four new independent studios alongside announcing a new internal one.
The four studios that Microsoft acquired include:
- Undead Labs – developed State of Decay games
- Ninja Theory – developed Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice and Devil May Cry
- Playground Games – developing Forza games
- Compulsion Games – developing We Happy Few (E3 cinematic trailer here)
Alongside these acquisitions, Microsoft chief Phil Spencer also unveiled a new internal studio called The Initiative located in Santa Monica, and will be led by the previous Tomb Raider boss, Darrell Gallagher
With Microsoft bringing these new studios into their company, hopefully it will yield more content and thought provoking games like Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice.
We’ll keep you posted on any new Microsoft news as it develops at E3!
