Tika Sumpter is currently in negotiations to star in the upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog movie. James Marsden, of X-Men and Enchanted, is also slated to star in the movie.
Sonic the Hedgehog
A Sonic the Hedgehog movie has been in the works since 2017. Actors and actresses are slowly being revealed as part of the cast. The Ride Along star, Tika Sumpter is the most recent actress to sign up to play a role. Jeff Folwer is the director, Deadpool director Tim Miller is the executive producer. Toby Ascher, Dmitri Johnson, Dan Jevons, and Neal Mortiz are all also part of the project.
The movie will feature a combination of live action and animation. The concept is not new but it provide a perspective on Sonic. Since the release of Sega’s first Sonic the Hedgehog game in 1991, the series has amassed popularity and a huge following. Popularity for the game series over the last 27 years has sparked animated TV shows and mobile games. The director and producers are expected to face a lot of pressure from fans to create a movie worthy of the video game.
Sonic is going head to head with the notorious Doctor Robotnik. A long time villain of the game and animated series. should give the director and producers the opportunity to develop a great story. The introduction of James Marsden and Tika Sumpter is sure to make a positive impact for the movie. It has the chance to stay true to the story of the game series and bring smiles to the faces of its many fans.
The movie is scheduled to release November 15th, 2019.
