After the announcement of two new Dungeons and Dragons adventures earlier this month Gale Force Nine has revealed a new board game based on Wizards of the Coast’s Waterdeep: Dragon Heist.
While Wizards of the Coast announced that Waterdeep: Dragon Heist would be an Ocean’s Eleven type adventure where the players plan a heist Gale Force Nine decided to go a slightly different route with Vault of the Dragon the new board game announced this week that is based on the new adventure.
Vault of the Dragon takes players on a more… immoral adventure; allowing them to play some of the less favorable factions of the city of Waterdeep; from the paranoid Beholder Xanathar to the Drow Bregan D’aerthe mercenary group. Players will be able to send their people to locations in Waterdeep to gather information and uncover secrets that can be used to discover the treasure they seek.
“The box contains 6 dungeons, 12 locations, 1 Yawning Portal, 50 treasure cards, 50 magic item cards, 4 faction cards, 40 plastic figures, 17 dice, 157 tokens, and a rulebook. The game is for 2 – 4 players, ages 14 and up, and plays in 90 minutes.”
Vault of the Dragon is due to be released in August of this year.
