When the success of the remake of Stephen King’s IT occurred, a remake of Stephen King’s Pet Sematary has been officially in the works. The remake of the live-action adaptation of Pet Sematary has a release date of April 5, 2019.
In celebration of the confirmed release date, Paramount Pictures released a synopsis of the film:
“Based on the seminal horror novel by Stephen King, Pet Sematary follows Dr. Louis Creed (Jason Clarke), who, after relocating with his wife Rachel (Amy Seimetz) and their two young children from Boston to rural Maine, discovers a mysterious burial ground hidden deep in the woods near the family’s new home. When tragedy strikes, Louis turns to his unusual neighbor, Jud Crandall (John Lithgow), setting off a perilous chain reaction that unleashes an unfathomable evil with horrific consequences.”
Stephen King has always been the master of the horror genre, and the creative mind behind films like Carrie, The Shining, Misery and many others.
The remake of IT was really a gamble, but paid off in bringing a whole new generation into the Stephen King franchise. Not only did the new film need updated and better special effects than the initial made-for-tv version, but the initial movie wasn’t a huge success.
While Pet Sematary is set to release on April 5th 2019, Stephen King’s IT Chapter 2 will release on September 7th 2018.
We’ll keep you updated on any new Stephen King news!
