Capcom has announced a partnership with Pure Imagination Studios to create an animated special adapted from Monster Hunter: World.

Monster Hunter: World is Going Animated

Monster Hunter: Legends of the Guild is the title for the animated special. A fearless young man who is determined to be recognized as a monster hunter is the center of the story. As he pursues his goal, an Elder Dragon blocks his way who has its sights set on a village. Will he be able to stop the Elder dragon and claim the title of monster hunter?

Capcom and Pure Imagination are producing and financing the animated special together. Scheduled to be complete in winter 2018 and the release will be sometime in 2019. Currently, it is unknown whether the release will be scheduled for TV or for streaming services like Netflix or Hulu.

This isn’t Capcoms first time entering into the animated world for their game. In 2016, Monster Hunter Stories: Ride On was a Japanese Anime that aired only on Japanese televisions. Monster Hunter: World is Capcom’s best and fastest selling game title.

When talking about the upcoming animated special series producer, Ryozo Tsujimoto said:

“We are thrilled to return fans to the universe of “Monster Hunter” and expand the series’ rich lore. We think die-hard fans will appreciate our dedication to the source material while those uninitiated to the series will still be treated to an epic adventure in a wholly unique world.”

The animated special will be an interesting and exciting expansion of the world of monster hunting and provide fans with an all new perspective about the universe in which they play. Get ready to watch in 2019!
