Just as new pre-expansion pack content is released today for Battle for Azeroth, Blizzard also released the first of three animated shorts. Just as they did for the Mists of Pandaria expansion, Blizzard will release 3 animated shorts under the theme Warbringers. Each of these tales features Jaina Proudmore, Sylvanas Windrunner, and Queen Azshara.
The promo from Blizzard shows some vivid scenes of battle that these 3 heroines faced. With the quote, “War did not break them, it made them.” emblazoned on the screen, one can’t help but want to know more.
The first installment tells the tragic story of Jaina Proudmore. We see Jaina, the powerful Alliance mage traveling across the sea on a ghostly boat while her singing plays mournfully in the background. In the song, it talks about Jaina’s father, the King of Kul Tiras, Daelin Proudmore. Her woe is because of her past refusal to take sides with him in earlier battles. Jaina turns her back on her father due to his blind hatred of orcs in earlier tales. (Note: She has been friends with Thrall, the former Horde warchief, and shaman.)
This animated short illustrates Jaina’s regret on turning her back on her people as we see many of her people in the clouds as she looks to the skies. Hers is a life full of regret and anger. We witness the hatred and determination that fills her soul which is essentially why she is one of the Warbringers. Looks like her feeling for orcs have dramatically changed.
The next two installments should prove to be just as fascinating. They will feature Sylvanas, the banshee queen and warchief of the Horde, and Queen Azshara, ruler of the Naga.
