“Earpers” are doing a happy dance today as SyFy announced a fourth season for Wynonna Earp at San Diego Comic Con. Currently airing season three on the science fiction channel, fans cheered at the SDCC panel as the announcement was made.
Wynonna Earp has perhaps one of the more unique genres and story premises. Categorized as a western horror series, Wynonna Earp tells the story of the infamous American Old West sheriff, Wyatt Earp’s great-great-granddaughter. Wynonna must deal with her family curse which entails battling demons who are the resurrected souls of the criminals that her great-great-grandfather dispatched. Helping Wynonna with her cursed destiny is her sister, Waverly, agent Xavier Dolls, and Doc Holliday who is the cursed immortal friend of Wyatt Earp.
At SDCC, actress Melanie Scrofano who plays the title lead stated, “It’s such a testament to our fans that we’ve just premiered barely and we have a Season 4.” The current season (season 3) began July 20th with a modest share of views at 371,000 (0.09 in the 18-49 demographics) and was re-aired the following Friday. The current season will continue to air on Fridays at 9:00 pm EDT.
Season 4 is scheduled to begin filming soon and is expected to be out sometime in 2019 with 12 episodes.
