Dungeons & Dragons is Officially Crossing Over with Magic: The Gathering

Dungeons & Dragons is adventuring into the world of Magic: The Gathering this November!

Dungeons & Dragons Adventuring into Magic: The Gathering

Wizards of the Coast is the creators of both Dungeons & Dragons (D&D) and Magic: The Gathering (MtG). In the history of D&D and MtG this has never been done before. The only exception being Unstable, Unhinged, or Unglued which are funny, and silly sets released for MtG. Now, D&D will explore the world of Ravnica, a massive world in the MtG universe.

The new lore book set will be The Guild Masters Guide to Ravnica. It will allow the Dungeon Masters to create and lure players through the world of Ravnica. The official guide description is below:

A perpetual haze of dreary rain hangs over the spires of Ravnica. Bundled against the weather, the cosmopolitan citizens in all their fantastic diversity go about their daily business in bustling markets and shadowy back alleys. Through it all, ten guilds—crime syndicates, scientific institutions, church hierarchies, military forces, judicial courts, buzzing swarms, and rampaging gangs—vie for power, wealth, and influence. These guilds are the foundation of power on Ravnica. They have existed for millennia, and each one has its own identity and civic function, its own diverse collection of races and creatures, and its own distinct subculture. Their history is a web of wars, intrigue, and political machinations as they have vied for control of the plane.

Exploring Ravnica

The world of Ravnica will provide a diverse and new environment to explore, loot and navigate through. New mechanics or spell requirements would be an interesting addition. MtG is centered around utilizing spells and combat mechanics to defeat the enemy and the lore of Magic is as diverse as that of D&D. Whatever the guide includes will be a fun and adventurous time for everyone.

Releasing in conjunction with the Ravnica guide, a short guide to Eberron will make its way to the shelves. A return to Eberron, Planescape or other worlds may also be in the future. Throughout the next year Wizards has plans to release more guides in new or returning worlds.

Look for these two guides, coming out November 9th, 2018.
