Following years-old tweets being unearthed by his critcs, Director James Gunn was severed from the Disney Family, specifically from Directing Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Now, it appears as if Guardians 3 will not begin production as planned.
When News broke that Guardians of the Galaxy Director had been fired from the project, fans were rightly shocked, and many assumed that the film would face some delays in production, which was scheduled to begin in January. Now, a report by The Hollywood Reporter seems to confirm that not only is the film being delayed, but the conclusion to the Guardian’s Trilogy has been put on hold indefinitely.
Despite an open letter from the cast and Dave Bautista threatening to leave if Gunn’s script is not kept, Disney has held firm on their choice to keep Gunn from the project.
As of this typing, Neither Disney nor Marvel have commented.
