The BBC have finally revealed Doctor Who series 11 premiere date. In typical BBC fashion, they released a small teaser announcement of the premiere date as October 7, 2018. American audiences were given a larger teaser featuring Jodie Whittaker as the Doctor in a colorful if not explosive video.
Series 11 will prove to be a game changer in many ways. As Whovians both old and new alike know, this is the first regeneration of the beloved timelord (err, timelady) that features a female. What some may not know is this is the very first time in its nearly 55-year history is that the series will air on Sundays instead of its longtime traditional Saturdays. As the new showrunner Chris Chibnall put it, “It’s all change.”
Chibnall stated this is a brand-new era for the timelord with a whole new cast including new companions and a ton of new monsters. The series also plans to have unique, standalone stories, harkening back to the classic Who series. The director of BBC Content hopes that by moving it Sundays that the series will renew its status as a family favorite to watch together as the weekends are winding down.
The release time of the series is dependent on the country. Be sure to check your local listings for airtime.
