Bad news for the DC Cinematic Universe and DC fans all around the world: Henry Cavill has stepped down from playing the role of Clark Kent, better known as Superman, for Warner Bros movies.
As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, the actor’s exit from the role happened after there was a scheduling conflict for him in order to play a cameo in the upcoming Shazam! movie. At the same time, it is said that Warner Bros is now shifting its focus into a Supergirl origins story, which would also leave Cavill aside from playing the role of Superman given his age and how that film would cover Kara’s teenage years.
Based on this focus shift, it seems like Warner isn’t going to be working on any additional solo Superman film for a few years, which in part opened Cavill’s schedule in order to play the lead role in the upcoming The Witcher Netflix live-action adaptation.
It is totally worth noting that neither Warner nor Cavill himself have made anything official, but sources close to Hollywood Reporter are saying this may be the end of Cavill as The Man of Steel, at least for now.
