Dark Phoenix: First Trailer Finally Arrives

The first trailer for FOX’s potential last X-Men film, Dark Phoenix is finally here and you can check it out above.

Jean Grey’s most famous story is coming to the big screen, and this first trailer promises fans a wild ride. With a Space-faring mission and yellow Uniforms, this almost looks like a live-action version of the famous 90’s cartoon.

Fans get to hear more of Magneto, Mystique, and Professor X’s conversation, which hints towards Professor X having tampered with Jean’s mind in some way. There is a brief glimpse of Magneto’s Helmet, and various shots of an unstable Jean destroying vehicles with her telepathic abilities.

Arguably the most interesting shot of the trailer is that of a Funeral, with Storm, Prof. X, Nightcrawler, and Beast all present, as well as one person who is obscured by an umbrella. This brings with it the obvious question: Who Died? It could very well be Jean herself, who famously perishes in the comic event Dark Phoenix, or it could be one of the three main cast members not visible: Mystique, Cyclops, or Magneto. Of course, it being any of them seriously messes with the timeline of the previous X-Men films, but seeing as fans have already seen the Dark Phoenix storyline play out in 2006, I think it’s safe to say that timelines have been altered significantly.

Dark Phoenix releases February 14, 2019, and stars James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, Sophie Turner, Tye Sheridan, Alexandra Shipp, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Evan Peters, and Jessica Chastain.
