Since Telltale’s major layoffs a few weeks ago, the fate of The Walking Dead: The Final Chapter has been up in the air. However, they’ve announced a deal with Skybound Games to finish the final two episodes of Clem’s story.
Still not quite dead.
In a tweet posted October 6, Skybound Games announced some big news:
We’re SO happy to announce that we’ve reached a deal with @telltalegames that will allow Skybound to continue #TheWalkingDead: The Final Season! Let’s wrap up Clem’s story right! More details to come soon. pic.twitter.com/ShyREw65iq

Skybound Games will be working with members of the original Telltale team, but nothing has been officially finalized. Skyhouse has also never used in-house developers for their games before. It sounds like Skybound Games will be handling the creation of the last two episodes. Hopefully the Telltale members and the Skybound folks manage to make things work out.
Skybound Games is a division of Skybound Entertainment. It was created in 2010 by The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman to develop and license products involving his works.
Last week, it was reported that Telltale was in talks with other companies to hand off the last two episodes. It also implied that the last two episodes were a good way into development.
More details on the deal will be posted as they release. In the meantime, Episode 2 of The Walking Dead: The Final Chapter was released in September 25.
