Pokémon Go Introduces Sinnoh Spookiness for Halloween

Pokémon Go is celebrating the Halloween season by bringing out its spookier Pokémon for trainers to catch. The spooky season is also giving the Generation 4 legendary Giratina a chance to make its debut.

Spooky scary Spiritombs.

The new event has an official post from the Pokémon Go website:

Do you feel a change in the breeze? A chill down your spine? Pokémon GO Halloween is back for a spooky good time! Ghost-type and Dark-type Pokémon originally discovered in the Sinnoh region, such as Drifloon and Stunky, join in on the fun, which begins on October 23 at 1:00 p.m. PDT! And, because you can’t have tricks without any treats, Trainers will be able to earn double Candy for every Pokémon caught until November 1 at 1:00 p.m. PDT.

In addition to the ability to find more spooky Pokémon, there are a few other tricks and treats. Professor Willow, the Pokémon Professor of Pokémon Go, has found a strange stone, and is now experiencing strange happenings around his lab. Could it be a Pokémon? Given that this is Pokémon, the answer is most likely yes.

In addition to all the basic Ghost and Dark-types roaming around, a particularly powerful one is making its debut. Giratina, the Renegade Pokémon, is a Ghost and Dragon-type legendary Pokémon who played a big role in the Generation 4 DS game Pokémon Platinum and had top billing on the game’s box art. Giratina will appear in Raid Battles and will stick for a good amount of time, returning to the Distortion World on November 20 at 1:00 p.m. PST.

Finally, trainers themselves will get to join in and dress up for the Halloween season. A variety of items themed around Ghost-type Pokémon are available in the Style Shop. Trainers can don a Drifloon hat or Gengar backpack to help complete that Halloween look!

The Halloween fun lasts until November 1, 1:00 p.m. PDT.
