The National Football League is partnering up with Epic Games to bring NFL-themed skins to Fortnite. Starting Friday, November 9, at 7 p.m. EST, players will be able to dress up as their favorite American football players.
Epic Games announced the crossover in a post to their website yesterday:
We’re excited to announce that Fortnite and the NFL are teaming up for the ultimate football face-off. Starting November 9 at 7PM ET you’ll be able to purchase NFL themed Outfits from the Fortnite Item Shop.
Each Outfit can be swapped to any of the thirty-two NFL teams, plus an additional unique Fortnite team. You’ll also be able to choose any number from 1-99 to place on your jersey to complete the official NFL look.
Given how Fortnite’s dances have been creeping their way into touchdown dances, it’s not too surprising to see America’s most popular professional sport would partner with a highly popular video game with worldwide appeal. Brian Rolapp, chief media and business officer at the NFL, said:
We see the popularity of Fortnite every day at the NFL as many of our players are passionate about this game. This partnership represents a great opportunity for millions of NFL fans who are Fortnite players to express their fandom inside the game while at the same time exposing our brand to countless others.
Mark Rein, co-founder of Epic Games, also had something to say:
We have so many football fans at Epic and we know a lot of the game’s fans share that same enthusiasm. Allowing our players to represent their favorite teams in the game was too cool of an opportunity for us to pass up, and we couldn’t be happier with how they turned out!
The NFL skins are purchasable for V-Bucks for male or female avatars. They’ll be available for sale November 7, at 7 p.m. EST.
