Godzilla is a character with many different backgrounds. In some films, he is seen as the protector of Japan while in others he is a rampaging monster trying to destroy everything around him. In the 2014 version, he serves as a protector trying to fight off giant monsters trying to destroy the world.

Along with Godzilla himself, fans also love his many foes and allies seen in the original films. Fortunately, we all will get a chance to see some of them in Godzilla: King of Monsters. King Ghidorah, Rodan, and Mothra have all been confirmed to make an appearance in the film, but as of now, it looks like Godzilla might be facing them all on his own. In other films, Rodan and Mothra have worked together with Godzilla to save the world, but King Ghidorah has, historically, been one of Godzilla’s greatest foes.

Millie Bobby Brown (Stranger Things) will play a young girl who seems to have some kind of connection with Godzilla and the other monsters. Although we’re not sure what her role will be yet, she might end up being merely the human focus of the film. It’s similar to Aaron Taylor-Johnson’s role which was to tell the human perspective in the first film.

This film is the third out of four planned films in Legendary Entertainment’s MonsterVerse movie franchise. It follows 2017’s Kong: Skull Island and will be followed by the upcoming 2020 film Godzilla VS Kong.  However, the wait is almost over as Godzilla: King of Monsters will be released in theaters on May 31, 2019.
