A Closer Look at the Upcoming Game ‘ZED’

Geekisphere has some new details on the upcoming indie game ZED, developed by Eagre Games and published by Cyan Ventures. After watching the insightful first-look of ZED on Twitch channel RobAndDan, we can’t help but share the excitement!

ZED is the story of an elderly man facing dementia while grasping for his memories. The narration is between his two consciousness, as he discovers memories of his past while reminiscing and coming back to the present. The level design is meticulous, where everything has a purpose, and could come back to you in an upcoming puzzle.

The Pre-launch Preview

RobAndDan’s channel over at Twitch had an exclusive look at ZED last week, alongside an interview with a key developer at Eagre Games, Seth, and artist Chuck Carter (known for Myst and Command and Conquer). RobAndDan and Eagre Games has very graciously let us put their content below so you can see first-hand how exciting ZED is going to be.

About the Game

ZED is one of the more interesting games coming out this Spring. From what we have seen, it brings beautiful gameplay of gorgeous graphics, with spot-on narration that bonds it all together. Veteran voice actor Stephen Russell known for Nick Valentine in Fallout 4, Corvo Attano in Dishonored 2, and Dr. Sylvian Bellamy in Prey takes upon the main character, bringing a familiar voice to the game that many can recognize and immediately identify with.

Within the hour preview that was shown on Twitch (and can be viewed above), there are interactable objects for the sake of fun and exploration, narration for story development, and puzzles that don’t block your progression on the journey. There’s a balance of complexity and exploration that makes the game look all the more enjoyable.

Currently there’s no announced solid release date, but you can put the game on your wish-list via Steam to get updates when it becomes available! Also keep an eye out on Eagre Game’s official Twitter and Facebook for announcements.

If our description wasn’t enough for you, we have the official Steam description below.

ZED Description

“ZED is the story of an aging artist, lost in regret and the haze of dementia. Inside the dreamscape of this creative mind come undone, players reassemble the artist’s fragmented memories into a final, lasting legacy: a loving gift to his granddaughter.

Making its debut on PC (with optional VR support for Oculus Rift and HTC Vive), ZED is a surreal trip, with an unexpected narrative that unfolds across fanciful, fractured lands. Spanning regret, reconciliation and redemption, it’s a bittersweet story that’s both deeply personal, and undeniably universal.

Released in partnership with Cyan Ventures, the new publishing arm from the creators of the legendary games Myst and Riven, ZED is the vision of Chuck Carter, part of the team behind the original Myst. Co-written by Joe Fielder (Bioshock Infinite, The Flame and the Flood) and David Chen (Metal Gear Solid series, Narcosis), the game also features a riveting performance from veteran video-game voice actor Stephen Russell (the Thief and Fallout series).”

We’re also very excited to announce we’ll be doing an exclusive interview with Seth and Chuck from Eagre Games all about ZED. If you have any burning questions you’d like answered, comment below and we’ll try to fit them in!
