I guess Sonic is the only one that can move fast enough to meet a deadline?
Sonic the Hedgehog’s live action movie originally had a release date for November 2019. However, following the backlash of people everywhere after the first trailer
director Jeff Fowler vowed to make things right.
“The message is loud and clear… you aren’t happy with the design & you want changes. It’s going to happen,” he wrote on Twitter. “Everyone at Paramount & Sega are fully committed to making this character the BEST he can be…”
But even with good intentions, Fowler has announced yet another stumble for the movie. A new release date of February 14, 2020 has now been set.
Along with the new date is a statement addressing the welfare of artists, presumably working in sweatshop conditions. Fowler assures those keeping close tabs on the movie that no FVX artists are in harm’s way while working to make Sonic less creepy. Among some of the complaints are Sonic’s human teeth looking too real. When you set them against his way too obvious CGI self, they are downright frightening.
But looking at the picture announcing the new date, Sonic’s hands already look drastically improved. Instead of white painted on hands, Sonic is now wearing gloves, a significant detail fans are quick to notice. Still, I don’t think anyone can rest easy until we see what’s up with those teeth
As of now, Sonic the Hedgehog hits theaters February 14, 2020.
