THQ Nordic is continuing the latest trend of remaking old classics. Today, they’ve announced they are bringing back fan-favorite Destroy All Humans!
Take me to your leader
Destroy All Humans was a sandbox game with a focus on destruction. Players take on the role of Crypto, an alien sent to Earth to collect human brains. What made the game so fun was that players were in a big open city where they could wreak havoc and cause destruction, similar to the Grand Theft Auto games. There’s something cathartic about running around and doing whatever you please. Especially if those things involve conquering the world!
Terrorize the people of 1950s Earth in the role of the evil alien Crypto-137. Harvest DNA and bring down the US government in the remake of the legendary alien invasion action adventure. Annihilate puny humans using an assortment of alien weaponry and psychic abilities. Reduce their cities to rubble with your flying Saucer! One giant step on mankind!
Destroy All Humans, again!
Reboots of popular and nostalgic titles have become a popular trend with developers lately. We saw it with games like Crash Bandicoot, Spyro the Dragon, and more recently with Resident Evil 2. Even more remakes are on the horizon as fans await the release of MediEvil and Final Fantasy VII, so this may be a new trend that might continue on for some time. It’s a great way to give fans a nice nostalgia trip, and it will also bring in new fans experiencing it for the first time. This makes the remake of Destroy All Humans a very promising title to keep an eye out for.
We have only been presented with a teaser trailer and some in-game screenshots. Some of the features are highlighted on their official website.
Only Destroy All Humans! allows you to explore idyllic US cities of the 1950s, read the thoughts of their citizens to uncover their secret desires… and then burn the very same cities to the ground with the mighty Death Ray of your flying saucer!
Use your Abducto Beam to throw tanks around!
Use your psychokinesis powers to crush a farmer under his own cow!
Discover which seemingly prude 50s housewife secretly has the hots for her hairdresser!
Slowly batter a human to death with his own hat!
Light up the night by zapping your enemies with teslatastic electricity!
Destruction coming to you soon
However, the visuals are impressive, and they don’t look out of place with modern titles. From the trailer footage, it looks like the developers have kept the spirit of the original. So far, there isn’t any information on what will be new outside of the visuals. Destroy All Humans will be released on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC in 2020.
